We are celebrating having an award-winning pipework system, after our newly launched PLX+ pipe system triumphed at the Association for Petroleum and Explosives Administration (APEA) Awards.
Scooping the top prize in the ‘Innovation’ category, our launch of PLX+ beat off stiff competition from a variety of strong product innovations to claim the award. Judges were impressed by the positive impact PLX+ has had on the industry and the benefits being realised by all sectors of the supply chain from distributors and installers through to contractors and end clients. Demonstrating our commitment to quality, innovation and continuous improvement was also an influencing factor.
Our PLX+ ‘conductive’ pipework range was launched to meet market demand, where certain major oil companies are stipulating a ‘conductive’ pipe system must be used. This product introduction means we are the only manufacturer to offer both a ‘conductive’ and non-conductive fuel transfer pipework system, offering complete flexibility for installers, contractors and end users.
Providing both solutions allows customers the option to install the most appropriate product for each individual application. The potential for static build up is higher in applications that require faster flow rates, with fuel lines that have slower fuel rates less likely to experience static build up. Offering two systems that meet varying criteria means we can now offer a PLX product to meet the requirements of any forecourt.
PLX+ has been specifically designed with a co-extruded dissipative bore layer to allow built-up static electricity to pass through the inner layer of the pipe and fittings. Offering an enhanced safety feature, a unique integral conductive connector also ensures that there are no loose items that could be missed out of the installation process, providing the reassurance of a continuous dissipative system.
PLX+ is offered as either a single wall or a secondary contained system in straight lengths or coils, in sizes 63mm – 110mm for single wall pipe and 63#75 – 110#125 for the secondary contained option.
Retaining all of the benefits of the existing PLX range, PLX+ comprises a co-extruded protective barrier layer, which can increase permeation resistance against many types of fuel blends ensuring there is no permeation of fuel through the pipe wall into the environment.
Commenting on the award win, our Fuel Systems Product Manager, Rich Pedley, said: “We are delighted at picking up the APEA Innovation Award for PLX+, there were some great products shortlisted so it is a fantastic achievement for PLX+ to win and is testament to the hard work from so many different teams at Durapipe.
“We continually seek customer and market feedback to ensure we can continue to provide a product portfolio that meets client needs. With the addition of PLX+ we can now offer complete flexibility, with a fully matched range of fuel conveyance pipe and fittings that can meet the requirements of any forecourt application.”
