Durapipe SuperFLO pipework has been installed as part of a new £8m office and data centre development for ATOS Origin in Livingston.
The new-build project has been undertaken to centralise many of the company’s Scottish functions and, constructed on a 3.85 acre site, it comprises 34,000 sq ft of office space and 22,000 sq ft of data centre facility.
It is vital that the systems in the data centre are kept cool to ensure they continue to run efficiently and do not overheat. As a result, the facility required a climate controlled air conditioning system to meet this need and mechanical services company G Dale Ltd was tasked with installing an effective solution.
A reliable pipework system was needed to distribute chilled water throughout the data centre and G Dale Ltd turned to SuperFLO as the ideal solution due to its performance characteristics and ease of installation. Durapipe SuperFLO in sizes up to 160mm was specified to transport the chilled water from three external chillers to 12 internal chiller handling units, which in turn feed the air conditioning system.
The pipework needed to be installed at a high level within the building, so G Dale Ltd was looking for a system that would be quick and easy to install. The lightweight nature of SuperFLO meant it was much easier to handle on site and coupled with the quick and easy solvent cement jointing technique, it significantly reduced labour time for the project.

Durapipe SuperFLO is specially designed to cater for chilled or boosted cold water applications within the building services sector and offers many added benefits; the system is completely limescale and corrosion resistant due its smooth inner-bore and offers a 50-year design life.
