A host of plastic pipework has been specified and installed as part of a new build college campus development located in Rugby.
The development is a new build campus for Warwickshire College that will offer state-of-the-art facilities in all main curriculum areas and will provide high quality vocational training in a contemporary business setting. Engineering firm Drayton Beaumont was tasked with providing mechanical and electrical solutions for the new campus that will replace the existing buildings which were outdated.
Drayton Beaumont were looking for reliable pipework systems that could be used for drainage and hot and cold water supplies throughout the building and turned to Durapipe UK. Due to past experiences with theft of copper pipework on site, Drayton Beaumont were keen to look for a high performing alternative plastic pipework system for the hot and cold water requirements. Therefore, with proven resistance to limescale corrosion and increased cost efficiency, Friatherm was a natural choice.
Friatherm pipework was specified in sizes 20mm – 110mm and was used to supply the entire building with hot and cold water. The pipework was used to transport hot water from the boiler house throughout the building to the radiators on every floor; it was also used to supply all the domestic hot and cold water services for the building.
Additionally, Friaphon noise reducing drainage, was chosen as a result of its excellent sound attenuated properties, which, when matched with its cost effectiveness, made it the ideal pipework system to provide high quality drainage to the campus. Specified in sizes up to 110mm, the Friaphon system does not need to be lagged, and combined with its push fit assembly, makes the installation process quicker and easier.
