Vulcathene aids medical research
11/05/2009
Vulcathene chemical drainage pipework has been selected for a major new development at the UK headquarters of Apatech, a world leader in synthetic bone graft technologies.

The £6.5million project sees Apatech expanding its facilities in Elstree, Hertfordshire; the company is undergoing a complete overhaul of the two latest buildings it has acquired to make way for 32,000 sq ft of office, manufacturing and development activities.
Installed by Allied Mechanical Services Ltd of Newmarket, the Vulcathene chemical drainage system has been fitted within the laboratories on the ground floor and at high level in the mezzanine plant room of the new building. The laboratories will be used for research into new technologies and due to the nature of the substances used in these processes, it was crucial to have a system that could safely dispose of the waste chemicals.
The proven system was selected due to previous good experiences of the product, as Simon Burge from Allied Mechanical Services Ltd of Newmarket explains: “Vulcathene has an outstanding reputation built over more than 50 years and it is the preferred chemical drainage product.”
“For applications such as this, where unknown chemical combinations will be transported, the performance of the product is paramount so Vulcathene’s proven reliability makes it the ideal choice.”
Available in sizes from 38mm – 152mm, Vulcathene is a purpose designed chemical drainage system available in two easy jointing methods; Mechanical for demountable joints and Enfusion for welded joints, offering complete flexibility for designers and installers of chemical waste systems. The system offers the reassurance that it has a proven pedigree in dealing with all manner of chemical waste cocktails from laboratories across the world and over many decades.
