SuperFLO cools data in Cyprus

Durapipe SuperFLO has been installed as part of a new pipework distribution network within an MOD data centre in Cyprus.



The data centre required a new chilled water pipework distribution system to be installed, which could work with the existing system, to ensure the chilled water is transported more efficiently around the building to the various cooling units. With the high temperatures in Cyprus, it is vital that a system is in place that can maintain a consistent temperature.

SuperFLO was the ideal solution for this project and six inch pipework was specified by contractors Southern and Redfern. In addition to meeting all the performance requirements, SuperFLO was also selected for its simple installation technique.

The installers were working on the roof in up to 40°C heat to fit the pipework so Southern and Redfern wanted a system that would be quick and easy to install. The lightweight nature of SuperFLO meant it was much easier to handle on site and coupled with the quick and easy solvent cement jointing technique, it significantly reduced labour time for the project.

Commenting on the project, Carl Davies, Director at Southern and Redfern, said: “For this project we needed a system that could be easily and quickly installed due to the heat that the fitters would be working in. The low levels of preparation required with SuperFLO and its lightweight properties meant it was ideal for our needs.

“We found the product easy to work with throughout the installation process and the fact that the material remains durable down to temperatures of -40°C also means it will offer high performance benefits to the end user throughout the lifetime of the system.”

Durapipe SuperFLO is specially designed to cater for chilled or boosted cold water applications within the building services sector and offers many added benefits; the system is completely limescale and corrosion resistant due its smooth inner-bore and offers a 50-year design life.
